Salary banding for this role is commensurable with experience and skills, and sits between $95,000 and $120,000.
About the Role
As the Volunteering Services Manager, you will lead RSPCA Queensland’s volunteering program, supporting over 2,500 volunteers across animal care, retail, rescue, foster, and events.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading, coaching and developing the volunteering team to achieve high performance and positive culture.
• Overseeing the full volunteer lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, performance, and retention.
• Ensuring volunteer roles are purposeful, clearly defined, and aligned to organisational priorities.
• Designing and delivering recruitment, retention, and recognition strategies that position RSPCA Qld as a volunteer organisation of choice.
• Maintaining current volunteer policies and ensuring compliance with all legal, safety, and internal requirements.
• Managing data and reporting through Better Impact; delivering training for staff and volunteers in system use.
• Building strong relationships with internal teams and key stakeholders such as Volunteering Queensland and community partners.
• Representing RSPCA Qld at external events and managing Work for the Dole partnerships.
• Leading strategic planning and program evaluation, aligning activities with national volunteer standards.
• Providing regular reporting on volunteer metrics, impact, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Managing internal communications with volunteers, including newsletters, events, and engagement initiatives.
• Championing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all volunteers.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive, people-centred leader who can drive outcomes while nurturing a supportive volunteer experience. You will ideally bring:
• A degree in social sciences, business, human resources, or a related field (highly desirable).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written, verbal, listening, and negotiation.
• A demonstrated ability to engage others and foster collaborative outcomes.
• Capacity to influence change and lead initiatives across varied stakeholder groups.
• High standards of integrity, accountability, and professional conduct.
• A compassionate approach, particularly in supporting volunteers through challenges.
• Experience in volunteer program management or a comparable leadership role.
• Strategic planning and project management capabilities.
• Confidence using digital platforms and volunteer management systems (e.g. Better Impact).
• The ability to align operational plans to broader organisational strategy.
• Physical capacity to perform manual handling tasks up to 10kg as required.
• A genuine alignment with the RSPCA Qld mission, values, and commitment to animal welfare.
